Traveling Trend: Cruises!
An upcoming traveling trend in 2017 are cruises! I know what you’re thinking, cruises are so basic… But the cruises I’m talking about are different. I am talking about River Cruises!
River Cruises are smaller vessels, much smaller than regular cruise ships, that take place for usually one or two weeks. They are much smaller boats that hold less people because they are typically through a smaller cruise line or travel tour group, rather than a very large corporate cruise line such as Carnival Cruises. Also, because they are traveling on rivers rather than oceans, the boats only go to certain places and have to be a certain size to fit through the rivers.

River cruises typically stop at multiple ports along their journey and dock in cities and towns so that passengers can experience the cultures of different places while setting sail to different locations every 2-3 days. River Cruises can be taken on the Danube River, Rhine River, Main River, Moselle River, Rhône River, and Seine River. River Cruises are most popular in Europe due to the number of rivers in that area.
These river cruise boats offer standard staterooms, rooms with balconies, suites, and even upgraded staterooms. With sun decks and restaurants overflowing with impeccable food and talented chefs, a cruise on one of these boats is an opportunity you will not want to miss out on. There are even lounges, libraries, herb gardens, and walking tracks on board. Some even have fitness centers and spa amenities.
Although these type of cruises are typically for adults not accompanied by children, they are still kid friendly, of course. There is not as much for young kids to do on this boat in comparison to large cruise lines. Have you ever taken a river cruise? If so, where?
River Cruises are a great way to explore different parts of the world that you may have not been able to see before. It makes it a more memorable and fun experience when you are living on the water and stopping daily to explore new cities and new countries. They are an upcoming traveling trend that I promise you’ll not want to miss out on!!!

Golden Bay Hotel & Spa

Last Spring Break, I took a trip to the Galápagos Islands located off the coast of Ecuador. While there, I had the opportunity to swim and see many animals that you would never be able to see in South Florida. I also stayed in 4 different hotels, as we moved around from island to island. In this blog post, I am going to tell you about my favorite hotel that we stayed in while there, The Golden Bay Hotel and Spa on the Island of San Cristóbal. Have you ever visited the Galápagos?
The Golden Bay Hotel and Spa is a small hotel of just 21 rooms located right on the beach. Looking out the window of your room, you can see numerous sea lions basking in the sun and getting crashed by the waves of the Pacific Ocean. As a hotel that is less than 5 years old, it's clean and modern decor is inviting. When you walk in the door, you are immediately greeted by smiling staff with smoothies to serve you. The food is great and the rooms are really nice. You have an option of having a room with an ocean view (highly recommended!!) or one with a view of the volcano. The cool and relaxed atmosphere of this hotel makes you feel at home, even when you are outside of your home country. The intricate design of this hotel made it possible for there to be a pool in the middle of the hotel. There are a series of ramps that lead to different levels of rooms and underneath those ramps is the amazing blue pool. Another thing that differentiates this hotel from many others in the Galápagos is that it has air conditioning! In fact, this hotel is very energy conservative. The lights and air conditioning only work if your room key is plugged into the wall, ensuring that no energy is being wasted throughout the day if you are not in your room. There is also a beautiful roof deck with a bar and lounge chairs that looks out onto the bay and looks over at the sea lions and locals all around the area of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
There is so much to do in this area near the Golden Bay. There’s a great beach just outside the front door everyday. You can also organize a boat ride to the famous León Dormido also known as the Kicker Rock. Kicker Rock is an amazing scuba diving and snorkeling destination in the Galápagos. There are endless activities surrounding this fantastic hotel - there are too many to list! I had a great experience staying here and when I return to the San Cristóbal, I will definitely be back for another stay! I hope this post was of interest to you and that you check out this hotel if you are heading to the Galápagos Islands anytime soon.
